Non-mydriatic fundus photography is the recommended applicable technology for general diabetes care.[2]
The setup of fundus photography facility at a general diabetes care unit includes the installation of a non-mydriatic fundus camera in a semi-dark room and a vision chart in the reception/preparation area. A desktop computer installed with the cloud-based workstation (MedLink) is required for receiving orders from physicians and for the uploading of the fundus photographs for diagnostic image reading.
It is highly recommended that the nurse staffs at the general diabetes care unit are trained for the photography work, instead of hiring new technical staff specifically for the job.
